The long list of materials that is required for the proper completion of the irrigation system generally requires that each one of these interlinked items are of the correct specifications. A failure in one of the items may eventually cause the whole system to fail. Examples are poor fittings, valves, pipes, wires, etc.

One can consider the complete works as a jig-saw puzzle that requires each one piece to fit into its place and if one is missing, it cannot be completed.

Knowledge of the suitability of the long list of items other than the generic brands like Hunter, Toro and Rain Bird, etc ( even with these brands, one can still find weaknesses ), how can one tell if the other numerous products will stand the test of time?

An established designer and contractor will look back and keep note of brands that are reliable and have withstood the test of time in the golf courses here and abroad.

To note the durability of various brands, one can infer from specifications by internationally recognized irrigation designers and also note changes if any. For this, one has to be exposed to the designers, generally from tenders or from close discussion with the various manufacturers’ representatives.

However good the irrigation design, failures in one or a few of the irrigation components can spell doom to the system.
